PCC's Industrial Occupations Hosts Open House

SOUTHEAST PORTLAND – From fiber optics to facilities maintenance, the world of industrial occupations will be on display.PCC’s Southeast Center will hold an open house from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12 in rooms 141 and 119. The center is located at 2850 S.E. 82nd Ave. The event, hosted by the college’s Industrial Occupations department, is free and open to the public.The department will showcase its programs, which include fiber optics training, telecommunications management and facilities maintenance technology. In the facilities maintenance program, students learn how to install, maintain and repair HVAC/R and other equipment and systems in the semiconductor industry, large health care facilities, schools, and other heavy industry organizations. In fiber optics, students receive hands-on training about how to terminate, install, troubleshoot and maintain fiber optic systems in the telecommunications industry. Telecommunications management covers administration issues for business and government agencies for voice, data and image communications.The goal is to increase awareness and knowledge of PCC’s technology programs so students can explore career opportunities in these rewarding technical areas.
