PORTLAND, Ore. – Is price the only barometer by which you measure a bottle of wine? Discover the hidden nuances that separate good wines from great ones with an upcoming non-credit class from Portland Community College. Hosted by Chris Lachmann, owner of Grolla Restaurant and Wine Bar, PCC offers two classes to demystify wine buying and enhance your enjoyment of the fruit of the grape. Both classes will take place at the restaurant, located at 2930 N.E. Killingsworth.Wine Tasting is for adults who are enthusiastic about developing their palate. Learn how to taste and why wine tastes the way it does. The tasting menu will include: chardonnays, pinot gris, reislings, sauvignon blancs, cabernets, pinot noirs, zinfandels, and syrahs, plus a bonus – a well-aged wine. The three-week class will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12 through Feb. 2. Tuition is $29, with $49 payable to Grolla at the first class.Food and Wine Pairing features a three-course dinner with expertly paired white, red, and dessert wines and explains why these wines enhance the dining experience.
