PORTLAND, Ore. – All those hours you’ve logged at the gym could be earning your more than a fit physique. Why not turn your knowledge and experience into a career as a personal trainer? A new class offered by Portland Community College can help you become nationally certified. Personal Trainer National Certification, a non-credit class, will give you all the information you need to become certified and begin motivating others toward a healthier body. The 30-hour training program combines lectures with hands-on instruction: get 15 hours in the gym preparing to work one-on-one with clients, and 15 hours of insight on anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, muscle injuries and more. The six-week class will meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 15 through Feb. 19, in Room 101 of Mount Tabor Hall PCC’s Southeast Center, 2305 S.E. 82nd Ave. Cost is $399 fee. Proof of CPR training is required. For more information, contact PCC Community Education at 503-788-6265.
