FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Portland Community College is celebrating its partnership with the Oregon Employment Department (OED) in Forest Grove. The Forest Grove Employment and Training Center (2801 Pacific Ave.) open house is from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 10. The new facility will feature standard job-hunting resources, training workshops, and workforce development by PCC. Adding the Forest Grove location makes resources more accessible to people from Gaston, Banks and Forest Grove and allows local businesses easier access to hiring resources.Open house speakers include Preston Pulliams (PCC District President); John Leeper (Washington County Commissioner); Mike McBreen (Nike Representative and board chair with Worksystems, Inc.); Greg Hickman (Deputy Director of the Oregon Employment Department); and Richard Kidd (Mayor of Forest Grove). Refreshments will be served.PCCs involvement at the site is just one advantage to businesses and unemployed workers in the Forest Grove area. OED based their decision to add the new office due to high usage of the Hillsboro locations by residents of the region. It is estimated the site will serve up to 600 clients a year. Worksystems, Inc., a regional workforce development funding agency, provided funds for PCC to move staff to the new site.
