Speaker to discuss the development of civic skills

Join Dr. Mary Kirlin in a Brown Bag Lunch to hear about her research and a discussion about the development of civic skills. Dr. Kirlin is an assistant professor in the department of Public Policy and Administration at California State University, Sacramento. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in public management and public affairs. Her research interests are in the area of civic engagement with a particular focus on the development of civic skills. Her work on the nature and development of civic skills is considered some of the most important in the field.
Dr. Kirlin’s interest in civic skills and civic engagement have involved her in both K-12 and higher education work in such diverse areas as classroom pedagogy, service and civic learning, faculty development, policy making and institutional strategic planning. The discussion will take place in the Sylvania Campus Cedar Room, 11:30am-1:30pm on Wednesday, November 15th.
