Fire Protection Technology students test their skills
Photos and story by James Hill
Fire Protection Technology students were put through a drill on Feb. 27 at the Public Services Education Building at the Cascade Campus. The drill involved safely setting and extending a four stories up. The program is unique in that it offers students the ability to launch a career of public service in a short amount of time, while meeting state and national standards for certification, providing them with a strong foundation in the field.
Training is based on national standards from the National Fire Protection Association and the National Fire Academy. Students who obtain an associate’s degree meet specific State of Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards & Training (DPSST) certification requirements and meet entry requirements for four-year programs in fire administration.
