Hear the president discuss 'Access for All' on KPOJ tomorrow

Photos and story by

OK, this isn’t exactly bond related, and I promised to blog about the bond, but I’m making an exception.

College President Preston Pulliams will be on AM 620 KPOJ radio tomorrow at 7:30 a.m., discussing his philosophy of “Access for All,” and how anyone who wants into a community college should be allowed in, regardless of financial situations.

He’ll be on the “Mornings with Carl Wolfson and Friends” show, which runs weekdays, 6 to 9 a.m. I would love to tell you what a fan I am of the show, but I spent much of my adult life as a newspaper copy editor, and the idea that anyone would be awake at 6 a.m. for any reason other than, “My bed sheet is on fire,” seems sick and wrong to me.

The president won’t focus on the bond. However, one of the most pressing issues behind the bond is the lack of classrooms and labs to serve students. If the president’s “Access for All” plan comes to fruition, it will only exacerbate our current problems and the thousands of students now left on waiting lists will only grow.
