weldPeople might have gotten sick and tired of hearing us say the main objectives of the November bond measure are: Workforce development, workforce development and workforce development.

But that really is the bottom line. The region is facing a shortage of skilled workers and Portland Community College is one of the primary players in providing that workforce. That includes teachers, nurses, welders and much more.

Don’t believe us? We got a little proof a couple of days ago when Russell Banks, manager of marketing, happened upon the attached sign while visiting the Rock Creek Campus.

The jobs are there. Our training facilities are at capacity. The bond measure would let us serve more students than ever before.

And that’s what this is all about.
