Student government leaders take the trek down to Salem

Photos and story by

I mentioned that we took a delegation of PCC folks to Salem on Wednesday to meet with about 14 members of the House and Senate, plus their aides.

Among the delegates were three student government leaders: Amber Hastings of Sylvania, Nancy White of Rock Creek and Brittany Smyton of the Southeast Center.

They were total rock stars and the lawmakers were impressed to hear their thoughts on community college in general and PCC in particular. I talked to Nancy after the sit-downs. You can hear a brief interview with her.

Want to go meet lawmakers and advocate for PCC? We’ll be taking students, staff, faculty, business partners and anyone else interested throughout the session. Just contact me at dana.haynes@pcc.edu if you want to go.

Have a good weekend.
