“Heart Beat” – Tuesday, Feb. 9

Celebrate Valentine’s Day and “American Heart Month” in February with PCC’s Heart Beat on Tuesday, Feb. 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Upper Mall of the CC Building. Free and open to the general public, the health fair will offer a variety of activities hosted by several of PCC’s allied health departments, including: Free blood press screenings; Images of heart anatomy; Testing in body mass index, Par Q form, Waist-Hip ratio, a step test and proper fitness equipment usage; Information about cardiac rehabilitation; the latest news about healthy and not-so-healthy fats and the caffeine content of energy drinks; Handouts about childhood obesity and tips to encourage healthy eating habits among children; Current literature on smoking cessation programs and how to grow your own “heart healthy” vegetables, as well as the opportunity to speak with a heart disease survivor – formerly a health care responder.

“Map Your Future”/“Student Services Information Fair” – Wednesday, Feb. 10

Don’t have a major? Don’t worry – come and Map Your Future from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 10, Upper Mall, CC Building, Sylvania Campus. And while you’re there, check out the many resources available to Sylvania students at the Student Services Information Fair.

Map Your Future offers guidance for those students who are undeclared, enabling them to learn about the many different majors and programs at PCC. There will be interactive, informational tables, followed by department-led tours and discussion sessions. And an incentive: Students who investigate at least six programs will be entered into a drawing to win PCC Tuition Bucks; Bookstore Gift Certificates; and iPod Shuffles!

Meanwhile, the “Student Services Information Fair” – same day, same time – will allow students to research a multitude of resources that the campus offers students, including: How to finance the cost of college tuition; Jobs; Career Resources and Planning; Student Clubs and Government; Advising and Counseling; Free Tutoring; and more – including prizes and popcorn.

Representatives from several of Sylvania’s resource centers and programs will be available at the Information Fair to answer questions. For more information about both events, contact Katy Ho, Associate Dean of Student 欧洲杯决赛竞猜app_欧洲杯足球网-投注|官网ment, at?kho@pcc.edu.
