PCC instructor searching for funding of moving art project

Photos and story by

Portland Community College art instructor Evertt Beidler, who created the experimental film “Moves Manager” on display two months ago at Portland Community College, is seeking funding to win a national art competition. His project involving a moving vehicle he created with help from PCC staff and students, won’t be funded unless he raises $3,500 by July 18.

This artwork, which is fully operable, was featured in Evertt Beidler's 'Moves Management' exhibit in April.

This competition is part of ArtPrize (www.artprize.org) – a large juried competition in Grand Rapids, Mich. The Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts (www.uica.org) is the host organization of the event. The Exhibitions Manager, Steve Samson (a former student at PCC’s Sylvania Campus) said that an excess of 100,000 people would see Beidler’s work during the competition.
