PCC plays big part in 82nd Avenue of Roses Parade

More than 80 faculty, students and staff from the Southeast Center volunteered to support or march in Southeast Portland’s biggest event of the year – the sixth annual 82nd Avenue of Roses Parade on April 28. Thousands of people from the neighborhood took advantage of a sunny Saturday to cheer on parade participants – including local businesses, high school bands, Portland Rose Society, veterans groups, and more than 50 PCC students and staff who marched in the parade passing out goodies to celebrate PCC’s 50th Anniversary.

Mayor Sam Adams and Amanda Fritz participated in the parade, along with Southeast/Extended Learning Center President Craig Kolins. In addition to participating in the parade, PCC donates the use of the Great Hall at Southeast Center for volunteer registration and coordination on the morning of the event and shuttle buses to transport volunteers along the parade route.

It was a great and fun experience volunteering for my school and watching my four children enjoy themselves on such a beautiful day. I enjoyed meeting and working with other volunteer members from the Rose City Parade Community. Thanks to everyone who came out for the event.
