College President Jeremy Brown has named Craig Kolins interim president for the Cascade Campus. Kolins replaces Algie Gatewood who is leaving PCC to become president of Alamance Community College in North Carolina.
Kolins holds a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of Toledo?and has served extended periods as interim president of the Southeast/Extended Learning Campus and Rock Creek Campus.?He is currently Dean of Instruction for the Southeast/Extended Learning Campus where he has been a leader in planning for the future comprehensive campus at Southeast.
“Craig’s experience will be very helpful to PCC as we explore ways to more effectively serve the needs of the eastern areas of the PCC district,” Brown said.
Kolins was hired at PCC in 2002 and serves as dean of student development and dean of enrollment services at the Rock Creek Campus. He also served for approximately half a year as interim president before Katherine Persson was hired in 2006. He moved to the Extended Learning Campus in 2006, where he served as dean of instruction and student development. Prior to his arrival at PCC, Kolins worked at Mt. Hood Community College, Western Oregon University in Monmouth and Terra Community College and the University of Toledo.
The college has hired a consulting firm to assist in a national search for the permanent Cascade Campus president with a goal of selecting a successor by June 30, 2014 in time by the 2014-15 academic year.
Lucky Cascade Campus to have Dr. Craig Kolins in their court for 9 months but we will wait with bated breath for his return as we miss him dearly.
