Holiday concert brings ‘Sounds of the Season’ to Rock Creek Campus
Photos and story by Janis Nichols
A choral concert titled, “Sounds of the Season,” is set for the evening of Dec. 4 at the Rock Creek Campus. The Rock Creek Choirs will present a seasonal program of choral music, featuring Antonio Vivaldi’s “Gloria,” at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 4, in the Forum Theater (Room 114/Building 3) at the Rock Creek Campus. The proceeds from this concert will help fund the choir’s first tour to San Francisco in June 2014. Tickets are $10 for adults (17 and older), $5 for people between 10 and 16. Admission is free for children nine and younger. Tickets are available at the door. Parking is free.
The Rock Creek Choir, under the direction of Pollyanna Hancock-Moody, are excited to present a variety of different seasonal pieces performed by several different PCC choral groups. Antonio Vivaldi’s landmark mass, “Gloria,” composed in 1715, will be the centerpiece of the evening. Professional musicians from the region will accompany the choirs.
This concert is intended to raise awareness about PCC Rock Creek Music Program, which has expanded in recent years. A new course offering highlighted at the concert is PCC’s new Thursday night chamber choir class. Offered January through March, it is a community choir. No experience is necessary.
