On Wednesday, April 23, Nancy Golden, Oregon’s Chief Education Officer, visited Portland Community College’s Cascade Campus (705 N. Killingsworth St.) to meet with college and local education leaders.
Golden, along with PCC President Jeremy Brown and Cascade Interim President Craig Kolins, toured the campus’ new bond construction and talked about PCC’s educational outreach like adult basic education offerings, career technical programs and the PCC Foundation’s Future Connect Program, which helps first-generation students succeed in college. Golden also met with other PCC staff and Portland Public Schools Superintendent Carole Smith, Jefferson High Principal Margaret Calvert, Self-Enhancement, Inc. Manager Troy Hollis and Governor John Kitzhaber’s Education Liaison Dani Ledezma to discuss the Middle College Program partnership, which allows Jefferson students to earn college credit.
