+STEAM club entertains the masses at Portland Mini Maker Faire

PCC’s +STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) student club had 56 volunteers for its participation in the Portland Mini Maker Faire last Sept. 13-14 at Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI).?Volunteers staffed the college’s Maker booth and showed off projects.?The event featured?robots, lasers, R2-D2 clones, tesla coils, 3D printers, industry representatives, and much more.

“It was a huge success with almost 7,000 visitors, 115 Makers and 11 food carts,” said student Eric Thomas.

PCC showed off?James Schiffer’s RGB LED cube, Charles Staffeld’s midi controlled music machines, Will Petillo’s?3D printed designed toys, CNC routers, telepresence robots, wearable technology and provided college information.?In addition, students and staff showed off their?Build-a-bots, giving a live performance on the Innovation Stage.
