PCC community shows support for Orlando victims, LGBTQI at Portland Pride Parade
Story by James Hill. Photos by PCC Officer Lyle Brown.
More than 200 PCC students, staff and faculty marched in the annual Portland Pride Parade this year. Attendees wanted to show support for the city’s LGBTQI community, as well as to show solidarity?with victims of the recent Orlando night club shooting. College organizers told The Oregonian that PCC had 40 signed up to march but got five times that many on Sunday, June 19. PCC marchers showed their support with “We Are Orlando” signs and wearing Panther Pride t-shirts in addition to a rainbow of colorful swag.
PCC Public Safety Officer Lyle Brown, who walks the beat at the Cascade Campus, was generous enough to have taken photos of his experience leading the marchers with his festive cruiser.
