Two Portland Community College students – Aleasha Jones and Todd Fisher – were included in a select group of budding artists recognized by the Beaverton Arts Foundation at a summer ceremony in Beaverton City Hall. They are two of the 13 recipients who received $1,500 scholarships from the foundation.

Jones, who studies the visual arts, will continue her education at the Oregon College of Art and Craft to pursue a degree in cross media and to share her artistic passion and knowledge with others. Fisher, who studies the performing arts, has extensive experience as a choral singer, songwriter, acoustic guitar player, worship leader and recording artist. He plans to complete his bachelor’s degree in vocal performance at Portland State University and hopes to perform at a local or national level.

Beaverton Arts Foundation scholarships have helped more than 100 high school and college-aged artists pursue their passions. Area high school seniors were eligible to apply for the scholarships in the last several years, and PCC art and music students have been included in the application pool now since 2017. Two PCC students, Alejandra Dominguez and Ranyu Shi, received the Foundation scholarships in 2017.
