Learn to Find the Right 'Fixer-uppers' through PCC

SYLVANIA CAMPUS – Is there an old home in the neighborhood that isn’t realizing its full potential? Then, Portland Community College can help you do something about it in its non-credit class Buying "Fixer Uppers" for Self or Sale. The offering will focus on all aspects of buying single-family "fixer-uppers" to live in or to sell again for a profit. The class will be held from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10 in room 121 of the HT Building at the Sylvania Campus, located at 12000 S.W. 49th Avenue. The cost of the one-day offering is $30, and includes lunch and class materials.The class will guide students through the process, from finding the home to putting the finishing touches on the renovation. This will include the pros and cons of buying property, finding the property through HUD or foreclosures, estimating renovation costs, getting financed, doing the work yourself or contracting the work out.
