Studying can be a grind, but this week the grinding at ?Building 7 at Rock Creek is all about the north hallway of the first floor.??That explains why the hallways are wrapped in plastic to keep the dust under control.
Summer projects for Rock Creek are moving forward: ?the addition to Building 7, re-striping of parking lots A and C, upgrades to the existing storm water detention pond and improvements to the dust collection system for the Building Construction Technology Program in?Building 2.
Crews are making progress on the new main entrance to Building 7 as the building should be fully enclosed by the end of August – just in time for cooler temps and moisture. ?Construction is moving forward with interior framing, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations. Drywallers have started work on the ground floor and will move to the second floor. ?The glass curtain wall installation is 95 percent complete. This summer crews finished renovating the existing multi-stall restrooms in the building to improve ADA accessibility and install more efficient plumbing fixtures.
In preparation for the Building 5 work next spring, when Parking Lot B will be?eliminated, crews are re-striping the existing parking lots (A and C) to make up for?those lost spaces.
The existing storm water pond will be upgraded to accommodate the new buildings and?meet current code requirements; work will begin this summer and will be completed?by November 2013. The pond currently handles all of the storm water for the campus.
The dust collection system in the Building Construction Technology area in Building 2?will be upgraded to meet current indoor air quality standards. This project is awaiting?final permits and will start this summer, with the goal of completing it by the start of fall?term.
