Hillsboro – They say “Behind every great man is a great woman.” Now learn about the women who stood behind no one in Women Through Time – Their Contributions and Inspirations, a six-week class on Tuesday evenings beginning Sept. 30 at Glencoe High School.
Starting with the 1700s, Tracey Sammons leads this discussion-based class that examines many heroic and unstoppable women. Be inspired while learning about women who have made significant contributions to our society and the world.
Tuition is $30 plus a $3 fee. Class meets from 7 to 9 p.m. at Glencoe High School, 2700 N.W. Glencoe Road. For more information, dial Portland Community College at 614-2708.
Picture Taking a Snap With PCC Class
Hillsboro – Have more photos of your finger than of your kids? Want to take better pictures? Well, just say “Cheese!” to learn the basics in an eight-week photography class or a one-night seminar at Glencoe High School.
On Wednesday evenings beginning Sept. 24, professional photographer Brian McLernon will lead you from the basics of camera handling and procedures in Photography Basics One. Each class handles different subjects as you increase your understanding of the optical and creative possibilities of the medium. Bring your camera and favorite photos to each class.
Or on Monday, Oct. 6, for those with simple point-and-shoot cameras, Point and Shoot to Better Photos will be the crash course in common photo techniques that will take your photography to another level. McLernon will discuss all the common mistakes and examine the principles of photo composition and flash lighting. Bring your camera, its manual and a pad and pencil to class.
Tuition for the eight-week course is $43. Tuition for the point-and-shoot seminar is $13. Both courses meet from 7 to 9 p.m. at Glencoe High School, 2700 N.W. Glencoe Road. For more information, call Portland Community College at 614-2708.
