PORTLAND – If pounding the pavement has left you with sore feet and a deflated ego, come to Portland Community College’s Cascade Career and Job Information Fair and soak up employment opportunities, presentations and speakers all under one roof.

Set for Wednesday, May 6 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at PCC’s Cascade Campus, 705 N. Killingsworth, the job fair promises to have 100 employers in industries ranging from the food and beverage to construction and health careers. High-profile participants include Oregon Health Sciences University, Pepsi Cola, Integrated Device Technology, the Bureau of Environmental services, Toys R Us and many more. Also present will be some live music for your listening pleasure.

"Be prepared and dress for success," said Ed Joseph of the PCC Cascade Campus Skills Center. "Be ready to talk to employers."

Joseph said job seekers should bring their resumes and be ready to sell themselves.

"This is a chance to get off the couch to look (for a job)," he added. "The job search is a job in itself. Now the job search is easier."

The last time Cascade took on this fair, in October of 1997, more than 3,000 people trekked through to find work. That event was also during a torrential Northwest downpour. With sunshine, this year’s job fair should exceed last year’s attendance numbers.

Sponsors include Today’s Careers, the Oregon Employment Division, PCC and several Oregon-based businesses and organizations.
