Board Makes Plans for `99 and Beyond in Work Session at Sylvania Jan. 28

Photos and story by

The PCC Board of Directors will come together to map out the college’s goals, legislative objectives for 1999 and tentative bond issue plans at a work session on Thursday, Jan. 28 in the Sylvania Room at the Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave.

It promises to be a busy planning session, starting at 7 p.m. with a discussion on the mission and goals of the college. This discussion and review follows feedback from employees after receiving the goals statement from PCC President Daniel Moriarty in August. The board will review the feedback of PCC employees regarding its present set of goals and mission statement.

After a brief review of the PCC Ethics Statement concerning board policy on conflicts of interest, PCC Director of Public Affairs Jan Coulton will detail PCC’s legislative agenda and advocacy plans for 1999.

Closing out the meeting will be a discussion on the future of a PCC capital bond measure, following the narrow defeat of a $135.5 million bond in last November’s general election. Issues to be discussed include the timing of the bond election, the possible content of the bond and a brief overview of an advocacy campaign for the bond.

The work session is scheduled to adjourn at 9:15 p.m.
