NORTH/NORTHEAST PORTLAND – Want to develop your professional skills? Then check out Portland Community College’s Professional Lecture Series this fall to help build your teamwork skills, improve productivity and get the basics on how to sustain working relationships. Various lecturers will provide the newest ideas in professional and personal development from noon to 1 p.m. every Thursday between Sept. 27 and Nov. 1 at Natures Northwest, 3535 N.E. Ave., Studio 1. Cost is $18, with $10 payable to Natures at the start of first class if attending the entire series, or $2 for an individual lecture attendance. Participants can pick up lunch in the Natures deli.Professional development topics include:Unleashing Your Creative Style (Sept. 27) – Maximize creative potential and become more productive by promoting your own style.Inner Strength During Outer Conflict (Oct. 4) – Build strength by focusing on integrity and setting boundaries. Understand how to use the strength during tough times.Be Heard! Offering Input and Making Requests (Oct. 11) – Learn to be taken seriously by offering input that sinks in by setting context and describing impact.Do’s and Don’ts of Anger Management (Oct. 18) – See how to be angry without being abusive or offensive. Tips on how to reframe and acknowledge anger without going overboard.Office Politics and Ethics (Oct. 25) – Gain insight on how to succeed in interpersonal relations in the workplace and how to handle dicey disagreements and power plays.Psychology (Nov. 1) – Learn the ins and outs of human psychology.For more information about this series, contact Community Education at 503-978-5205.
