PCC's Noon Lecture Series Returns to Library

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Community College’s popular brown-bag lunch noon lecture series designed to increase professional skills is being offered once again this winter. The free, non-credit series will meet from noon to 1 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 10 through Feb. 14, at the Multnomah County Library, 801 S.W. 10th Ave. Co-sponsored by the library, sessions will be held in the first floor meeting room and are open to the public. Seating is limited, and it is recommended that those planning to attend register through the college. The series kicks off Jan. 10 with Surviving Life Takes Humor. Speaker Don Wright will share ways to tap into our own humor to "survive and thrive."The series continues Jan. 17 with Finding Balance in Uncertain Times. Speaker Kathy Litkie will discuss how to use personal time, energy and resouces to create a more meaningful and memorable life of sustained fulfillment.Power for Gentle People is the topic of the Jan. 24 session, to be led by Kathy Edwards. She will teach participants how to speak up for themselves, draw out gentle people, overcome shyness and handle confrontation. Ways to Stay Calm in Crisis will be shared by Nancy McDonald on Jan. 31. Discover helpful hints and coping techniques to remain calm when panic strikes and emotions run high.The series continues Feb. 7 with Communicating Under Stress. Speaker Rob Russell will explore strategies for taking the edge off tension-filled moments when communication is crucial.A session on The Survivor Personality Today concludes the series on Feb. 14.
