PCC Series Zooms in on Photography Skills

ST. HELENS, Ore. – For local shutterbugs, Portland Community College has two classes that will focus their photographic eye. The non-credit class, Beginning Photography, will help students learn the basic functions of a manual camera and develop skills in photographing a wide-array of situations. Beginning Photography is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays from Jan. 8 to Feb. 19 in Room B46 at St. Helens High School, 2375 Gable Road. Cost is $44.50. Instructor Ron Burnett will cover still life, people, indoor and outdoor settings, using color and black-and-white film, lighting techniques and framing options. There will be weekly photo assignments.The next level in the class, Photography Darkroom Beginning I, will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays from Jan. 10 to Feb. 21 in the darkroom at St. Helens High School. Barnett leads students through basic black-and-white developing, enlarging methods and how to print your photos. Cost is $64.50. For more information, call PCC Community Education at 503-978-5753.
