Climate film explores solutions rather than politics

Photos and story by

Thanks to physics instructor Toby Dittrich, you don’t have to be on one side of the political spectrum in the climate change debate to take part in this new film’s upcoming screening. He said the film “Carbon Nation” won’t politicize the issue but will encourage viewers to seek sustainable approaches to taking care of the environment.

“Carbon Nation” will be shown at 5 p.m., April 12 in Room 107, ST Building, Sylvania Campus. A live question-and-answer session will follow the film at 7 p.m. with the director Peter Byck over the Internet. The event will be broadcast to dozens of other colleges and universities around the country. Byck will answer questions via Skype, Facebook, Twitter and e-mail. Free tickets can be found at Sylvania’s Environmental Center, Room 260, College Center Building, Sylvania.

The film will be shown in bits during Sylvania’s Earth Week Celebrations April 18-22 with an opportunity to view the entire film at Room 107, ST Building from 3 to 5 p.m. if you miss the April 12 showing. On Thursday, April 21, it will be played in Room 103, SS Building at that time.

“Carbon Nation” is a documentary movie about climate change solutions and illustrates how solutions to climate change also address other social, economic and national security issues.
