Results from the spring 2013 DL student survey
Posted by Andy Freed
Distance Education’s Student Services group and Institutional Effectiveness completed a survey of online students last Spring get their perspective on online classes and to see what their expectations were for course interaction, use of technology, and more. We’ve already highlighted one of the results in a post about student preference for consistent course navigation and layout, but there are many other interesting insights, such as student awareness and access to office hours:
Question 18: Has your instructor offered office hours or time for help outside of class?
Response | Percent |
---|---|
Not Sure/Don’t Know | 31.1% |
No | 9.8% |
Yes | 59.1% |
So nearly 41% of students don’t have or don’t know if they have access to office hours with their instructor. The results of the survey are interesting and are certain to spark conversation. I encourage you to check out the rest of the Spring 2013 DL Student Survey Results.
