The Oregon Oral Radiology Proficiency Certification preparation course is for dental assistants and those with dental office experience who want to become certified in Oregon.

The job

Take on more responsibility as a dental assistant by obtaining the Radiation Health and Safety certificate. Dental Assistants who become radiology certified in the state of Oregon, can operate dental x-ray equipment and perform dental radiography procedures.

The program

Our RHS prep course is convenient with our combined online didactic learning, and weekend hands-on lab classes. This course meets the criteria to take Oregon’s Clinical and Didactic Radiologic Proficiency Exam administered by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB).

Requirements

Students must be currently working as a dental assistant, or office staff to become radiology certified in the State of Oregon.

The investment

The time commitment for this course consists of 30 hours of didactic and 16 hours of hands-on in the PCC Dental Radiology lab.

Didactic information will be accessed through Desire2Learn, PCC’s online method of delivering education. Additional literature, assignments, and quizzes are used outside the classroom to enhance course materials.

FAQs

Are there prerequisites for this course?

No. No prior experience is necessary and in Oregon, anyone can take radiographs after they obtain the radiology certificate with DANB and OBD.

Will this course prepare a student for the DANB didactic (written test)?

Yes. But of course, the student will be responsible for preparing themselves for the test.

How does this course work?

The didactic portion will be offered online. Students will complete at their own pace reading assignments, discussion boards, and quizzes every week. Students will practice hands-on skills in the PCC Oral Radiology Lab on Dexter Mannequins.

Cost of the program?

$1,250 excluding book

What is the textbook to be used?

The textbook “Dental Radiography: Principles and Techniques, 6th Edition” can be found on Evolve Elsevier?(ISBN: 978-0323695503). Please purchase prior to the first week of class.

What is the drop/refund policy?

Students must drop the course two weeks before it begins in order to get a refund for the course they have paid for. If they miss the deadline, they will not get a refund and will be responsible for paying for the course even if they didn’t attend.
