Why choose German at PCC?
Portland Community College’s German program not only features small classes and teachers dedicated to your learning, we also sponsor activities outside the classroom: field trips, service learning, German Day, German Club and Stammtisch. Stammtisch is a monthly informal get-together at a local restaurant where we practice our German while eating and drinking traditional German fare.

Degrees and certificates
PCC offers classes in this program but not a degree. These classes can be used as electives and as part of the following university transfer plans:

Class information
Maus, Haus, Bier, Katze: What do these words have in common? They are all German cognates. Can you guess their English equivalents? It’s easy: mouse, house, beer, and cat! German is easier to learn than you might think.
What will you do?
German is the second most commonly used scientific language. Germany is also a great place to study and work. Germany awards a great number of scholarships and working visas for students and professionals.
