Psychology classes are designed to help you gain a better understanding of yourself and others. You will gain insight into how people think, feel, and interact with one another. This kind of information can be useful for almost any job and can help you in your daily life.

What will you do?

Psychology classes can be used to satisfy the Social Science requirements of an associate degree. Associate and bachelor’s degrees are most helpful for entry-level positions in:

  • Community mental health agencies
  • Correctional facilities
  • Crisis or rehabilitation centers
  • Government agencies
  • Human resources
  • Senior citizen centers

To have an accountable career in the field of psychology where you make the decisions that guide psychological assessment and treatment, teach, or conduct research, you should earn a master’s or doctorate.

If you are interested in a career in psychology, a great place to get more information is the APA (American Psychological Association) careers in psychology page. Our videos about biological psychology, sport psychology, and psychology and nature further describe these fields.
