APR201 Electrical Motor Controls

Provides knowledge and skills needed to design, install, maintain, service and troubleshoot electric motors. Focuses on the operation and installation of control systems, specifically motor starters and controllers. Covers electromagnetic controls, AC motors, and transformers. Includes lab activities using electrical test equipment to analyze electric motor control malfunctions. This course is also offered as ELT 201; a student who enrolls in this course a second time under either designator will be subject to the course repeat policy. Prerequisites: FMT 111 or APR 104 or department permission. Audit available. (See course content and outcomes.)
