Introduces the historical context, stylistic development, and cultural impact of American rock music from the 1950s to the present. Includes origins of the style and related genres. Examines how instruments, technology, media, and popular culture affect how rock music is created and marketed. Also covers global versions of rock music. Prerequisites: (WR 115 and RD 115) or IRW 115 and MTH 20 or equivalent placement. Audit available. (See course content and outcomes.)
