Nonfiction Graphic Novel Workshop:Project Practice & Process
A follow-up to "Intro to Comics: Nonfiction Comics and Graphic Novels" for artists developing nonfiction comics/nonfiction graphic novel projects who want to enhance their practice through group support and critique.
This is a series of workshopping sessions for participants' in-progress (or development of) non-fiction comics projects. With the instructor's guidance you and your classmates will be responsible for establishing 1) group methods/metrics with which to support and evaluate your own and each other's work; 2) practical and achievable project goals; and 3) your own weekly drawing/cartooning practice towards a deadline for the completion and presentation of your project. Each session will be divided into a period of group critique (discussion and evaluation) of individual project progress and dedicated time for drawing + writing and/or project research. The instructor will provide guidance through examples of techniques and suggestions of individual approaches to subjects.
