Modern American Cinema-The Birth of New Hollywood 1967-1978
Modern American cinema was born in 1967. After creative stagnation, Hollywood found younger filmmakers to attract a younger audience. The results were shocking and profitable, resulting in some of the best films Hollywood ever made.
The film industry faced multiple challenges during the 1960s and started experimenting with a new business model. We'll explore the art and history of American cinema from 1967 through 1978. We'll use these films as a launchpad for discussions on the art, the business, the culture, and the evolution of American cinema. A collection of outstanding films have been selected for this course. Arrangements for viewing the films will be made available through a private Internet streaming service.
