Here are the slides from today: Level 2 Monday, September 30, 2024 Slides

We practiced capitalization and punctuation today on page 14 in the textbook.??

We talked about punctuation today:

period, comma, apostrophe, exclamation point, question mark

Here are two ways we use apostrophes:

1. My classmate’s name is Lesly.

apostrophe + s = possessive

= the name of my classmate

2. She’s in your Level 2 class at PCC.

apostrophe + s = contraction

= She is

Here is a way to?NOT?use apostrophes:

There are 25 student’s in our class.

Add s to make a noun plural. Do not use an apostrophe to make a word plural.

student = singular (1) ? ?

students = plural (more than 1)

We talked about subject pronouns today. Pronouns replace nouns. These are subject pronouns:

I

You

He

She

It

We

They

We talked about the BE verb today. There are three forms of the BE verb in the simple present: am, is, are.

I am

You are

He is

She is

It is

We are

They are

There are two forms of the verb HAVE in the simple present: has and have

I have

You have

He has

She has

It has

We have

They have

Check all of your work with eagle eyes for spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and meaning.

You looked up the translation of these words: spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, meaning

To find the meaning of a word, you can look up its definition in an English-English dictionary. My favorite is Longman Dictionary.

We sang the ABC song today. What letters do you need to practice?

Now I know my ABCs.

Next time won’t you sing with me?

We sang “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes” today. Do you know all the words?

Head, shoulders, knees, and toes

Eyes and ears and mouth and nose

Today you came to the class quietly and on time.? You sat next to students who did NOT speak your language.? Please do this every class!? Thank you!???

The Welcome Unit Packet will be due on Friday, October 4.

The Welcome Unit Test will be on Monday, October 7.
