Art Journaling supply list and info for students
Hello Art Journaler!
I’m looking forward to beginning our adventures together. Here are a few details to get us all off to a good start.
Class Rules ?:
Be kind to each other (of course) and especially be kind to yourself. Self-criticism is counter-productive to learning, but so often sneaks up when we’re making art. Together we will create an encouraging space where all attempts are welcome and honored, understanding that we arrive here with many different levels of experience and skill.
Also, art journaling is about personal discovery, so I HOPE that what we each create looks different from what those around us are doing! You are completely qualified for this class. That’s my opening lecture (and my note-to-self). ?
What to bring:
We’ll generally take a “use what you have” approach, as Art Journaling can be done with simply a pen and paper, and can also incorporate a wide range of materials. Here are examples of items you can bring to class:
? an assortment of pencils and pens
? a blank journal or sketchbook, 6″ x 8″ or larger
? colored pencils, markers, crayons or cray-pas, etc.
? magazine images, washi tape, stickers, or any other items that inspire you
? scissors and glue stick or other adhesive
I will also bring an assortment of supplies to share each week.
The plan for our first day:
? I’ll show you some different types of journals and sketchbooks that I have used, which are suited to different purposes. This may?help you choose what to buy (or make!) if you haven’t yet purchased an art journal.
? We’ll use a magazine image as inspiration to begin doodling a page. You do not need to prepare anything!
Because I like to get a read on where you all are first and go from there, I do not set our course plan in stone. But I’ll give you a heads-up each week about what we’ll be doing the following week, in case there are special supply needs or suggestions.
Looking forward to meeting you!
Pam
