- Please memorize all exponent rules, which means to memorize the names, a sentence for an explanation, an equation using a and or b as a base.
- In section 5.6, there is a nice summary of rules at 5.6.5.
- On homework, write out all seven exponent rules, with names, definitions, equations with a and b as bases, and an example with x or y and numbers as exponents.
- 5.2:? 6 – 66 by 3.? Note: When evaluating a constant to an exponent, watch the base.? -32 has a base of 3 and thus we take 3 times 3 and put a negative in front so the answer is – 9.? If a problem has (-3)2, the base is (-3) and then (-3) time (-3) is 9.

- Using the steps found in the document, notes, do the following problems in 9.1:
- Use a table of five values to do problems 13 and 16? [For Problem 16 use values of -8, -4, 0, 4, 8.? The steps are on Page 3.
- Problems 13 and 16 should have resulted in a line.? One can use a table of values to graph other problems such as a parabola.
- Please read 9.2 and 9.3 carefully.
- Use of table of values and graph the? following equation, which will be a parabola on a graph.? Use values of x, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4
- Now read these notes to find out to graph a parabola using key features.? Parabola Notes
- Please use the parabola notes and graph

HW #9:? Due on March 10, 2020
- We are going to Chapter 9 next and then back to Chapter 8.
- Use the steps from March 5, 2020 and graph the two following parabolas.? ?Recall you need to do steps to find vertex and find the x-intercepts. The rest of the information can be extracted from the constants, a, b, and c.? Please set up the table with the key graphing features which are the following:
- Constants, a, b, and c
- Open Direction
- Vertex (… , …)
- Axis of Symmetry x = …
- y-intercept? (0, ….)
- x-intercept? ?(…, 0)? and (… , 0).? Note: There may not be x-intercepts, or two or one.
- 9.3:? 36, 37.? Note on #37, there is only one x-intercept point, so substitute in the value of one for x, and solve for y.? You can then use the point at (1, …) and then plot the reflection point on other side of axis of symmetry.
- 9.3:? 53 parts and b.? You DO NOT need to graph this equation, but go through the process to find the vertex and the x-intercepts to answer the questions.
- 9.3:? 57:? find the vertex and if it is above zero, then plane will not hit the ground, else … bummer ….
- Read chapter 8 carefully.
- Start reviewing old homework’s so study for final.
Final Test Information
Please find the final test.? Again I want to state that NO ONE has to take the final due to all of the changes taking place with the entire world regarding the virus.? If you choose to not take the final, you will have the grade given to you on March 16, 2020.? Note:? There may be some small change due to turning in HW #9 this week.
Please DO NOT GO to your regular classroom to take the final.? The school is encouraging students to stay off campus.
Please take the final and use your own paper.? Here is some graph paper.
After you complete the final you can scan or photograph final and email it.

Things are changing quickly with quarantines, shut downs, etc., so I would try and finish the test quickly and email it.? If you cannot complete the test by late Tuesday, please let me know.
