Registering to Vote

When students register to vote in large numbers, it shows legislators at the local, state, and federal levels that students are a community whose needs must be prioritized. Many students are either not registered to vote or have not updated their current information.

  • Has your name and/or signature changed since you last registered to vote?
  • Has your political party affiliation changed?
  • Have you updated your address since the last time you voted?

These are all reasons that you would need to update your Voter Registration Card.

Accessibility Notes for TurboVote

  • The website can be navigated without the use of a mouse. However, the logical order in Chrome is incorrect; headers and footers are read before form contents.
  • Tab order may be reset after entering information and pressing “Next.”
  • Visual indication of focus does not appear when using Firefox.
  • The website does not indicate changes in dynamic content to users of assistive technology. The user will not be able to tell when a page has loaded, and will not receive notification of changes when selecting items or entering data.
  • Form errors are indicated using color and relationships between fields. Screen reader users will not receive any error notification. They will need to review each field and try to find the error. Users with color blindness may have difficulty locating errors.
  • On some pages, the user will be redirected to an external website without warning. The external site opens in a separate tab, and the user must return to the original TurboVote tab after completing actions on the external site. External sites have not been tested and may vary in accessibility.
  • Headings on the “Almost Done” page are clickable, but screen readers may not indicate this.
