Water Conservation
**This page is currently being updated**
Local vulnerabilities to climate change from drought and wildfire in Oregon include both the infrastructure for fresh water resources and the fresh water quality. This additional stress on our water systems makes it paramount for PCC to reduce our water consumption habits and save freshwater resources for future generations.
Stormwater Management
Stormwater management is the process of controlling the stormwater runoff that comes primarily from impervious surfaces like parking lots, driveways, and rooftops. This helps to control flooding, reduce soil erosion and improve air quality.
Water Efficient Fixtures
Restrooms are an area where a lot of water is used. To conserve water in these spaces, PCC restrooms are furnished with fixtures that are water efficient. Some examples of water efficient fixtures are low-flow toilets and efficient faucets.
Rainwater Harvesting
Rainwater harvesting is the collection and storage of rain from a roof-like surface, rather than allowing it to run off. This collected rainwater is used for irrigation and lessens the demand on other water sources, which conserves water use and reduces the overall negative impact of the building.
