As part of Portland Community College’s Earth Week celebration, the Southeast Library will host a Climate Fiction Booktalk. Author Thea Prieto will read from her award-winning novella From the Caves on Friday, April 26 from 2:00 – 3:30 pm on the 2nd floor of the Southeast Library. Light refreshments will be served. Attendees are invited to bring your own climate fiction or environmentally-focused prose or poetry for an open mic sharing. All campus libraries will provide Earth Week displays with environmentally-themed books available for checkout. The library events are part of the college’s Earth Week (April 20 – 26) celebration, which will include tabling fairs at each campus with numerous giveaways, activities and resources. Other events include an Oregon Garden field trip, Learning Garden tours and planting parties, STEAM Center upcycling workshops and more. On that day 20 million Americans, about 10% of the population, took to the streets to protest pollution and call for more care for the Earth.
