I’ve been a librarian since 2004 and all of my professional jobs have been in academic libraries, primarily at community colleges. My library roles have varied. First, working as a solo college librarian where I developed the library, managed all library operations, taught, and provided technology support. In my current job, I work with a great team of library professionals and lead and coordinate the operations of PCC Library.

Contributing to the library community is important to me. I’m actively involved with state and regional library groups, including Orbis Cascade Alliance. We work together to provide innovative and responsive library resources and services – such as Summit – for our students, faculty, and staff.

I’ve been involved with literacy and community outreach for nearly 20 years. I was one of the founding members of the Portland-area First Book Local Advisory Board. This experience led me to my career in libraries.

My research interests include information literacy and its impact on student success, digital equity, Open Educational Resources and Open Pedagogy, the use of technology for teaching and learning, and design of libraries and other learning spaces.

As a long-time Portland resident and former PCC student, I’m thrilled to be a part of PCC and the PCC Library team. It’s rewarding to be able to contribute to my community, to work in a field that aligns with my values, and to learn and grow in my chosen profession. Community colleges and community college libraries are an essential part of building a strong and vibrant region.

When I’m not at work I enjoy spending time with family and friends, gardening, cooking (I love to bake!), and going out to listen to the great local music we have in Portland.
