Lara is a writer, performer, and editor. She’s also a mom, an organizer, and a kettlebell coach. She believes that the stories we learn and tell about the world shape what we understand about what is real and what is possible. She’s interested in reading, cognition, mythology, gender, and science. She thinks writing should be used as a tool of discovery rather than just a tool of expression. We don’t have to have big ideas in order to write or write well–we can use the process of writing to uncover what our ideas are and what they really mean.
She hopes students will bring their whole selves to the classroom–their histories and experiences, their hopes and visions, their realities and challenges. She thinks that learning–as individuals and in community–is one of the ways we can set ourselves free.
