I’ve was born in New Jersey, and lived in Eastern Washington and West Virginia before going to college at UC Santa Cruz. After finishing my BS in Math, I moved to the Portland area where I started tutoring in math at Mount Hood Community College. Helping people there really solidified my interest in education. I earned my MS in Math from PSU in 2007. I’ve been teaching at PCC since 2007.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy all things plant/botany-related, photography, hiking, free-diving, and working in my shop.

My philosophy of teaching is that I’m a facilitator. I will do my best to create learning components that will help you achieve understanding that will transfer to success in my classes. My courses requires maturity and responsibility on your part. I will be here to guide you on your journey, but you must be prepared to do the walking.

You should expect:

  • No book homework credit.
  • No extra credit.
  • No online homework platforms.
  • In-class engagement.
  • Take-home assignments of some sort each week, some of which will be correctable.
  • Three exams, a portion of each is take-home and calculator-ok.
  • Desmos to be used throughout.

Below you’ll see the courses I’m teaching this term:
